The Marconi 1HAK60582AAF is an STM-4 aggregate card, marked S3MR STM4-0, L4.1 long-haul optics at 1300nm, for Marconi’s SMA range of SDH add/drop multiplexers. It carries the shelf’s traffic at the 622 Mbit/s STM-4 rate over the L4.1 long-haul optical class, the Series 3 (S3MR) mapping stage feeding the aggregate output.

Marconi’s SMA family, inherited from GPT and Plessey, is a subrack of plug-in units: line termination units at the PDH rates, mapping cards, optical STM-1, STM-4 and STM-16 aggregate interfaces such as this one, a system controller, alarm cards and power feeds. Marconi’s 2006 collapse ended factory support, so every SMA site still in service is maintained from secondary-market spares.
