The Marconi 1HAT60591ABG is an STM-1 optical interface card, long-haul class at 1310nm, marked compatible with the SMA1 and SMA4 node variants, for Marconi’s SMA range of SDH add/drop multiplexers. It carries a 155 Mbit/s optical circuit over the longer-reach optical class, its own marking confirming cross-compatibility across two SMA node sizes.

Marconi’s SMA family, inherited from GPT and Plessey, is a subrack of plug-in units: line termination units at the PDH rates, optical STM-1 and STM-16 interfaces such as this one, a system controller, alarm cards and power feeds. Marconi’s 2006 collapse ended factory support, so every SMA site still in service is maintained from secondary-market spares.
