The Huawei WP11TNUA is a TNUa, a TDM switching board for the Huawei BSC6900 base station controller. It provides time-division (circuit) switching within the controller, handling the TDM voice and channelised traffic that GSM and UMTS networks carry alongside packet services. It is a switching board, not an OptiX optical transport card. The TNUa installs in a PARC subrack and works with the main switching (SCU) and processing (DPU) boards, supporting controllers that still terminate TDM transmission. As networks migrate toward IP transport, TDM switching boards remain a useful maintenance spare for operators running legacy and hybrid BSC6900 configurations.
