The Cisco WS-CAC-8700W-E is an 8700W hot-swappable AC power supply for the enhanced Catalyst 6500-E series chassis, compatible with the 6506-E, 6509-E, 6509-NEB-A, 6513, 7609 and 7613 chassis variants but not with the smaller 6503/6503-E or 6504-E chassis, which cannot accommodate a supply of this size. It provides high-capacity power for fully populated 6500-E chassis running dense line-card configurations, PoE-heavy line cards or dual-supervisor redundant setups that draw more power than smaller supply options can deliver. Hot-swap support lets the supply be replaced without powering down the rest of the chassis. This is a routine spare for maintaining full power capacity and redundancy on high-density Catalyst 6500-E deployments.
