The Cisco WS-C6509-E is a bare enhanced 9-slot Catalyst 6509-E chassis, 15 rack units tall, supplied without power supplies or fan tray. It is the enhanced-airflow version of the standard 6509 enclosure for the Catalyst 6500 modular switching platform, into which a supervisor engine, line cards, fan tray and power supplies are fitted separately to build a complete switch; the enhanced design supports higher-density, higher-power line card configurations than the original 6509. The 6509-E remains one of the most common Catalyst 6500 form factors deployed in enterprise core and distribution roles. Tech-Star (UK-based, shipped worldwide) supplies Cisco chassis.
