The Extreme Networks 10051 is a 1000Base-SX mini-GBIC, a 1000BASE-SX SFP transceiver with an LC connector. This is a standard multimode Gigabit Ethernet optic (850nm, LC duplex) used across the GBIC/mini-GBIC-equipped Summit, Alpine and BlackDiamond switch families wherever a fibre uplink or server connection is needed over multimode fibre. It is the newer, smaller SFP form factor rather than the older full-size GBIC of part 10011, and the two are not physically interchangeable in a card built for one or the other.
