The Marconi 1HAM60659ABX is a 34 Mbit/s tributary line termination unit, marked SMA 34MB TRIB LTU34, for Marconi’s SMA range of SDH add/drop multiplexers. It presents a 34 Mbit/s (E3) PDH tributary circuit into the shelf, a sibling of the LTU 34/45 dual-rate card found elsewhere in the same 1HAM part-number block.

Marconi’s SMA family, inherited from GPT and Plessey, is a subrack of plug-in units: line termination units at 2, 34, 45 and 140/155 Mbit/s, optical STM interfaces, a system controller, alarm cards and power feeds. Marconi’s 2006 collapse ended factory support, so every SMA site still in service is maintained from secondary-market spares.
