The Marconi 1HAT60651ADM is a 4-channel VC-AM tributary card, a repaired unit, for Marconi’s SMA range of SDH add/drop multiplexers. A VC-AM (virtual container assembler/mapper) card maps PDH tributary payloads into SDH virtual containers across four channels, the interface between the lower-rate tributary side and the shelf’s synchronous switching stage.

Marconi’s SMA family, inherited from GPT and Plessey, is a subrack of plug-in units: line termination units, mapping and assembler cards such as this one, optical STM interfaces, a system controller, alarm cards and power feeds. Marconi’s 2006 collapse ended factory support, so every SMA site still in service is maintained from secondary-market spares, including factory-repaired units like this one.
