The Marconi 1HAM60834AAC is an 8-port 2 Mbit/s balanced line termination unit, marked SMA4/3/2M/BLTU, for Marconi’s SMA range of SDH add/drop multiplexers. It brings eight E1 tributary circuits into the SMA shelf on balanced cabling in a single card, compatible with the SMA-4, SMA-3 and SMA-2M node variants per its own marking.

Marconi’s SMA family, inherited from GPT and Plessey, is a subrack of plug-in units: line termination units at 2, 34, 45 and 140/155 Mbit/s, optical STM-1 and STM-16 interfaces, a system controller, alarm cards and power feeds. Marconi’s 2006 collapse ended factory support, so every SMA site still in service is maintained from secondary-market spares.
