Motorola MVME337-1 wireless / cable access systems Telecom System Card / Module

The Motorola MVME337-1 is a VMEbus controller module built around the MC68020 32 bit microprocessor, supplied on a double height single width VME board. It combines the 68020 running at 20 MHz with onboard DRAM, a multiprocessor control and status register, interfaces to both the VMEbus and the VSB secondary bus, and two 9 pin serial ports on the front panel.

Boards of this type acted as intelligent controllers inside VME systems, taking a share of the work off the main single board computer rather than serving as the system processor themselves. The MVME range came out of Motorola’s Computer Group, a business that later became Motorola Embedded Communications Computing and then part of Emerson. Long lived industrial, transport and defence systems keep VME hardware in service, which is where demand for these still comes from. Refurbished.
