Symbol, Motorola, Zebra and Extreme Networks: the wireless LAN line

The Symbol wireless LAN portfolio has changed hands three times, and units in the field carry any of four badges.

  • 2007: Motorola acquired Symbol Technologies.
  • 2014: Motorola Solutions sold its Enterprise business to Zebra Technologies.
  • 2016: Extreme Networks acquired the Zebra wireless LAN business (WiNG controllers and access points). Scanners and printers stayed with Zebra.
