The Huawei TN1K3AFB is an OptiX OSN 6800 subrack assembly, supplied populated with the three boards a shelf needs before it will do anything: the TN11P1U02 power interface unit, the TN11AUX02 system auxiliary interface board and the TN52SCC01 system control and communication board.

The OSN 6800 is Huawei’s compact DWDM and OTN platform for metro and regional optical transport. The PIU brings in and protects the -48 V feed, the AUX board handles housekeeping and alarm interfaces and the inter-shelf communication bus, and the SCC is the shelf controller that holds the configuration and talks to the network management system. Everything else in the shelf, the amplifiers, multiplexers and transponders, plugs in around them.

Buying the assembly rather than the bare subrack matters when you are commissioning a new site or replacing a shelf, because a subrack without an SCC cannot be brought into management.
