The Emulex LP9002L-E is a single-port 2Gb Fibre Channel host bus adapter from the LightPulse family, built on a 64-bit 66MHz PCI interface with an LC optical connector. It presents one 2Gb/s Fibre Channel port to the host and handles frame processing on the card, offloading the server CPU during sustained storage traffic. The trailing -E denotes EMC-qualified firmware: the adapter carries the code revision EMC certified for its Symmetrix and CLARiiON arrays, so it is the variant specified where an EMC array is the storage target. It auto-negotiates to 1Gb where the fabric requires it, which keeps it usable in mixed-speed SAN environments. Adapters of this generation remain in service in long-lived SAN installations where the switch fabric and array are themselves 2Gb.
