The Emulex LP9802-E is a single port 2 Gbit/s Fibre Channel host bus adapter on a 133 MHz PCI-X interface, with embedded multimode optics on an LC connector. The E ending is the EMC variant: the card carries EMC qualified firmware and identifies itself to an EMC array and to PowerPath as a supported adapter, which the standard LP9802 will not do without a firmware change.

The optics are fitted to the board rather than being removable, so the card is bought for the fibre type it already has. It negotiates at 2 or 1 Gbit/s and will attach to earlier fabric switches. Cards in this family were supplied in volume alongside CLARiiON and Symmetrix installations, which is why they are usually sourced against a specific array rather than by speed alone. Refurbished.
