The Enterasys 7G4280-19 Platinum DFE module provides 18 fixed 1000Base-X SFP (mini-GBIC) front-panel ports plus one slot for an optional Network Expansion Module (NEM), for the Matrix E7, N7, N5, N3 or N1 chassis.

In the Matrix E7 chassis it only supports FTM2 data backplane interconnections; the NEM slot can accept a module such as the 7G-6MGBIC-A to add six further mini-GBIC ports when a deployment needs more gigabit fibre density than the 18 fixed ports provide.
