The Enterasys 4H4282-49 is a DFE-Gold series edge module offering 48 fixed 10Base-T/100Base-TX RJ-45 ports, plus an option slot that accepts a 7G-6MGBIC interface module for up to six additional Gigabit ports via mini-GBICs. It installs into an Enterasys Matrix N3, N7 or E7 chassis.

Each of the 48 fixed ports can run in half or full duplex, with duplex mode set by auto-negotiation or manual configuration, making the module suitable for dense 10/100 access-layer deployments. The optional Gigabit expansion keeps an upgrade path open for uplinking the module to a Gigabit backbone without a full chassis change.
