The Enterasys 1H-8FX is an 8-port 100Base-FX fibre expansion module for the Matrix E1 Workgroup Switch (WS) family. It adds eight fixed 100Base-FX ports over MT-RJ fibre-optic connectors to a base Matrix E1 switch, extending Fast Ethernet connectivity over fibre runs.

The MT-RJ interface gives a compact, duplex fibre connection well suited to linking wiring closets over multimode fibre where copper distance limits would otherwise apply. Like other Matrix E1 expansion modules, the 1H-8FX is not hot-swappable, so the host switch must be powered down before the module is fitted or removed.
