Enterasys VH-SMGMT2: SNMP management module for Vertical Horizon VH-2402S2 and VH-2402S switches.

The Enterasys VH-SMGMT2 is the SNMP management module that fits the rear panel slot of a Vertical Horizon VH-2402S2 or VH-2402S switch, turning an unmanaged stack into a managed one.

It provides both in band and out of band access, carries an embedded HTTP agent so the switch and the stack attached to it can be administered from an ordinary browser, and exposes the usual SNMP interface to a network management platform. Firmware matters here: the module requires release 02.05.02 or later, and that version has to be loaded on the module itself whether it goes into a VH-2402S2 or an older VH-2402S base unit. One module manages the whole stack rather than one per switch.

The Vertical Horizon range came from Cabletron Systems, continued under Enterasys Networks after the 2001 renaming, and passed to Extreme Networks in 2013.
