The Extreme Networks 50015 is a BlackDiamond MSM64i Management Switch Fabric Module, a plug-in card for the BlackDiamond 6800 series modular chassis switches. It supplies both the switch fabric and management or control-plane functions for the chassis, handling forwarding decisions between the line cards installed in the other chassis slots.

The MSM64i provides up to 384 Gbps of non-blocking switch fabric capacity, supporting redundant master and slave operation when a pair is installed for high-availability chassis deployments. As a management module rather than a line card, it does not carry its own external network ports.
