The HP J9623A is an HP E2620-24 switch, offering 24 autosensing 10/100 ports plus two Gigabit copper and two SFP uplink ports, part of HP’s E-series (formerly ProCurve) fixed-configuration access switches aimed at branch and wiring-closet deployments. The mixed uplink configuration (copper Gigabit plus fibre SFP) gives network designers a choice of copper or fibre uplinks into the core without needing a separate switch variant, useful where some sites have fibre riser cabling and others don’t. The E2620 sits in HP’s mid-tier access range, above the fully unmanaged value switches but below the enterprise 2900/3800 series in feature depth, offering basic Layer 2 management, VLANs and QoS through a web GUI.
