The HP AJ940A is an HP StorageWorks D2600 disk enclosure, a 2U direct-attach SAS storage shelf holding up to 12 large-form-factor SAS or SATA drives, designed to extend the storage capacity of a host server or storage array beyond its internal bays. It connects to a host HBA, RAID controller or upstream enclosure over SAS and is commonly daisy-chained with additional D2600/D2700 shelves to build out larger direct-attach storage pools for ProLiant servers and HP’s entry-level storage arrays. The enclosure itself is passive storage infrastructure (drives, power and I/O modules are typically ordered separately or already fitted), so its condition and I/O module configuration should be confirmed against the intended host system before ordering. D2600 enclosures remain a common low-cost way to add bulk SAS storage to an existing server estate.
