The Marconi 131-9475/03 is an STM-64 S-64.2 optical aggregate card, a short-haul 10 Gbit/s optical mux unit for Marconi’s MSH family of SDH digital cross-connects and multiplexers. The S-64.2 designation is the ITU-T short-haul optical interface class for STM-64, so this card aggregates the shelf’s traffic onto a 10 Gbit/s optical line over shorter spans than the equivalent long-haul card.

The MSH range (MSH64C, MSH80, MSH84 and MSH86 among the variants) is built around a switching matrix surrounded by tributary and aggregate interface cards, with STM-64 aggregate cards such as this one carrying the shelf’s traffic between nodes. Marconi’s 2006 collapse ended factory support, so the installed base is maintained from secondary-market spares.
