The Marconi 1HAM60796AAR is a 34 Mbit/s unbalanced line termination unit for Marconi’s SMA range of SDH add/drop multiplexers. It presents a 34 Mbit/s (E3) PDH tributary circuit into the shelf on unbalanced 75 ohm coaxial cabling, one of the standard European PDH rates the SMA platform interworks with.

Marconi’s SMA family, inherited from GPT and Plessey, is a subrack of plug-in units: line termination units at 2, 34, 45 and 140/155 Mbit/s, optical STM interfaces, a system controller, alarm cards and power feeds. Marconi’s 2006 collapse ended factory support, so every SMA site still in service is maintained from secondary-market spares.
