MRV EM800-MNGD: management module with two SFP ports for the LambdaDriver LD800 chassis.

The MRV EM800-MNGD is the management module for the LambdaDriver LD800 chassis, fitted with two SFP ports. It occupies the slot the LD800 reserves for management and gives the shelf its supervisory function: inventory of the installed modules, optical power and alarm reporting, and a path for configuration and software loading.

The two SFP ports allow the management channel to be carried optically between shelves so that a chain of LambdaDriver sites can be reached from one point rather than each needing its own out-of-band connection. Without a module of this type the chassis still passes traffic but is invisible to the management system. MRV Communications’ optical transport business was acquired by ADVA Optical Networking in 2017. Tech-Star is UK-based and ships worldwide.
