MRV SFP-GD-ELX: Gigabit Ethernet SFP, 1310 nm DFB, 40 km over single-mode fibre with digital diagnostics.

The MRV SFP-GD-ELX is a Gigabit Ethernet SFP transceiver with a 1310 nm DFB laser, rated for 40 km over single-mode fibre and fitted with digital diagnostics. It is the extended reach member of MRV’s gigabit SFP range, sitting above the short reach 850 nm and the 10 km 1310 nm parts, and plugs into any SFP cage on MRV’s OptiSwitch and LambdaDriver equipment as well as third-party switches that accept the module.

Extended reach optics of this class are used for inter-site links where the fibre run is longer than a standard long-haul gigabit SFP will carry but does not yet warrant a DWDM transponder. MRV Communications’ optical transport business was acquired by ADVA Optical Networking in 2017. Tech-Star is UK-based and ships worldwide.
