The Marconi 1HAK60702ABP is an STM-16 receive optical interface card, L-16.1 long-haul class at 1310nm, for Marconi’s SMA range of SDH add/drop multiplexers. It provides the 2.5 Gbit/s optical receive path into the shelf’s aggregate stage, the L16.1 marking confirming the ITU-T long-haul optical class rather than the shorter-reach short-haul variant.

Marconi’s SMA family, inherited from GPT and Plessey, is a subrack of plug-in units: line termination units at the PDH rates, optical STM-1 and STM-16 interfaces such as this one, a system controller, alarm cards and power feeds. Marconi’s 2006 collapse ended factory support, so every SMA site still in service is maintained from secondary-market spares.
