Extreme Networks 15401: Summit 300-48, 48-port 10/100 Layer 2/3 edge switch with integrated 802.3af PoE and wireless support, supplied with the standard 400 W supply.

The Extreme Networks 15401 is the Summit 300-48, a 48-port 10/100 edge switch with Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching, integrated 802.3af Power over Ethernet and the wireless features that let it work with Extreme access points as a unified wired and wireless edge. It adds four further ports for gigabit uplinks and runs at wire speed across a non-blocking backplane in a 2U chassis.

PoE on the access ports is what the unit is usually bought for: IP telephones, wireless access points and cameras all draw power over the same cable that carries their data, which removes the need for local supplies at each outlet. This example is supplied with the standard 400 W power supply, and the series takes hot-swappable load-sharing supplies where redundancy is needed.
