MRV EM1600-OAB: optical booster amplifier with gain flattening filter for the LambdaDriver LD1600.

The MRV EM1600-OAB is an optical booster amplifier module for the LambdaDriver LD1600 chassis, supplied with a gain flattening filter. A booster amplifier sits immediately after the multiplexer and raises the combined launch power of the DWDM comb so that the span reaches further before further amplification or regeneration is needed; the gain flattening filter keeps the output level even across the channels so that no wavelength arrives significantly stronger or weaker than its neighbours.

Modules of this class are matched to the span loss and channel count of the link, so the amplifier gain and the channel plan should be checked together before ordering. The LD1600 is the sixteen-channel member of MRV’s LambdaDriver WDM family. MRV Communications’ optical transport business was acquired by ADVA Optical Networking in 2017.
