Enterasys 7GR4202-30 Matrix/S-Series/X-Series networking Switch / Carrier Ethernet Line Card

The Enterasys 7GR4202-30 is a thirty-port Distributed Forwarding Engine module from the Diamond series, built for the Matrix chassis platform. The Distributed Forwarding Engine architecture is the defining feature of the Matrix range: each module carries its own forwarding hardware and policy engine rather than relying on a central supervisor, so switching and routing decisions are made on the blade and capacity scales with every module added instead of contending for a shared processor. That also means a chassis has no single supervisor whose loss takes the system down. Diamond series modules sit at the upper end of the DFE range in forwarding capacity and feature support, handling wire-speed Layer 2 switching, Layer 3 routing and policy classification. The module fits Matrix E7 and N-series chassis. Originally a Cabletron design lineage, the range shipped under Enterasys from 2001 and moved to Extreme Networks in 2013.
