The Enterasys 03023452210B is a single-port uplink module for the Vertical Horizon series of stackable workgroup switches. The Vertical Horizon range, sold earlier as SmartSTACK, uses option slots rather than fixed uplinks, so the backbone connection is chosen by fitting the appropriate module rather than by selecting a different switch, and the same VH-2402 chassis can present a copper or fibre uplink depending on what is installed. The uplink carries the switch’s aggregate traffic to the distribution layer, which is why fibre variants are specified where the run exceeds the reach of twisted pair or crosses between buildings. Modules of this family are specific to the Vertical Horizon chassis and are not interchangeable with the EPIM or Matrix modules used elsewhere in the Enterasys range. Ownership ran Cabletron to Enterasys in 2001 and on to Extreme Networks in 2013. Tech-Star, UK-based and shipping worldwide, supplies Vertical Horizon modules for legacy switch maintenance.
