Enterasys X-G32-00 Matrix/S-Series/X-Series networking Switch / Carrier Ethernet Line Card

The Enterasys X-G32-00 is a thirty-two-port 1000Base-X module for the X-Series chassis platform, with each port presented as an SFP socket. Fitting transceivers per port allows the same module to serve a mix of short-reach multimode links inside the data centre and long-reach single-mode runs to remote buildings, with the media decided at deployment rather than at purchase. Thirty-two Gigabit ports on a single blade gave the X-Series high port density for aggregation duty, collecting uplinks from access switches and passing them to the core. The X-Series was positioned as Enterasys’s high-capacity chassis line, carrying distributed forwarding hardware on each module so that switching and routing throughput scaled with the number of blades installed. Extreme Networks has held the Enterasys portfolio since 2013, and earlier units in the wider range carry Cabletron markings.
