Enterasys 08180725225F Matrix/S-Series/X-Series networking Datacentre Switch

The Enterasys 08180725225F is a CS-series 24-port switch, part of the CoreWatch-managed CS range of enterprise workgroup switches. The CS series provided twenty-four switched Ethernet ports in a rack-mount chassis, aggregating a floor or department of desktop connections and passing them upstream to the distribution layer through an uplink port. Switches of this class replaced shared-media hubs by giving each attached device its own collision domain and full-duplex operation, which removed contention as workgroup sizes grew. Management covered VLANs, spanning tree and SNMP monitoring, allowing the unit to be administered as part of a wider managed estate rather than configured in isolation. Units in this range are typically found supporting long-lived installations where the wider network has not been refreshed. Enterasys grew out of Cabletron Systems in 2001, and Extreme Networks acquired the business in 2013.
