The Enterasys 1G582-09 is a Matrix E1 standalone switch with six fixed 10/100/1000Base-TX RJ-45 ports and three flexible expansion slots that accept 10/100 or Gigabit Ethernet option modules. It ships in a rack-mountable 2U chassis and is designed to sit at the aggregation point of a Matrix E1 workgroup network.

The switch includes 64 MB of DRAM and supports RMON monitoring, port trunking and port mirroring for troubleshooting and traffic management. Its combination of fixed Gigabit ports and modular expansion slots let it act as a flexible distribution point for a stack of Matrix E1 workgroup switches.
