Enterasys 1G-2GBIC, a 2-port GBIC uplink expansion module for Matrix E1 switches.

The Enterasys 1G-2GBIC is a 2-port GBIC uplink option module for the Matrix E1 Workgroup Switch (WS) and Gigabit Workgroup Switch (GWS) product families. It slots into an expansion bay on the base switch to add two Gigabit Ethernet uplink ports using standard GBIC transceivers.

By accepting GBIC modules rather than fixed connectors, the 1G-2GBIC lets an installed Matrix E1 switch be fitted with copper 1000Base-T, or fibre 1000Base-SX/LX/ZX GBICs depending on the uplink distance and media required, giving flexibility to connect a workgroup switch back to a Gigabit backbone or core switch.
