The Enterasys MGBIC-LC09 is a gigabit mini-GBIC for 1000BASE-LX, working at 1310nm over single mode fibre with an LC connector and reaching up to 10km.

This is the long haul option in the Enterasys mini-GBIC range and the one to fit where a link leaves the building: a campus backbone, a connection to a remote site over dark fibre, or a handover into a carrier service. It complies with IEEE 802.3z and the SFP multi-source agreement and supports the SFF-8472 diagnostic interface. The multimode counterpart is the MGBIC-LC03, also a 1310nm part but rated to 2km, and both drop into the same cages, so getting the fibre type right at the ordering stage matters.

Enterasys inherited this line from Cabletron Systems in 2001, and Extreme Networks acquired Enterasys in 2013.
