Enterasys 7G-6MGBIC: six-port mini-GBIC gigabit module for Matrix N-Series and E7 chassis.

The Enterasys 7G-6MGBIC is a six port gigabit module presenting all six ports as mini-GBIC cages, for the Matrix E7, N1, N3, N5 and N7 chassis.

Six fibre capable ports on one blade made it the aggregation module of choice in a Matrix chassis, taking uplinks from edge switches across a campus into a single distribution point. Each cage accepts an Enterasys mini-GBIC, so the same blade can mix short multimode hops and long single mode runs depending on which optic goes in which slot. Matrix modules are keyed to the chassis generation, so confirm the host before ordering.

The Matrix platform originated with Cabletron Systems, carried on under the Enterasys Networks name from 2001, and moved to Extreme Networks in 2013.
