Cabletron CSIWS-AB MMAC-Plus / SmartSwitch Router (SSR) networking Wireless Access Point

Cabletron CSIWS-AB MMAC-Plus / SmartSwitch Router (SSR) networking Wireless Access Point Image 1

RoamAbout wireless access point with RJ45 port and PCMCIA slot for a CSILD-AB-128 radio card.

The Cabletron CSIWS-AB is a RoamAbout wireless access point with an RJ45 network port and a PCMCIA slot for the radio card. As with others in the range the radio is not built in: the CSILD-AB-128 wireless card supplies it, and an access point without that card fitted has no wireless function at all.

The RJ45 port carries the wired side back to the switch, and the unit is designed for ceiling or wall mounting in an office. The RoamAbout family belongs to the period before the current 802.11 security standards, so units are normally sourced to maintain an existing site rather than to build a new one. Cabletron Systems became Enterasys for enterprise products in 2001, and Extreme Networks took over the portfolio in 2013. Available from Tech-Star, UK based with worldwide despatch, on a quotation basis.
