Cabletron 9E106-06 MMAC-Plus / SmartSwitch Router (SSR) networking Switch / Carrier Ethernet Line Card

The Cabletron 9E106-06 is a 10BASE-T Ethernet switching module for the MMAC-Plus chassis, also sold under the SmartSwitch 9000 name for the same shelf. It is an i960 based card implementing IEEE 802.1D bridging, so it switches between its own ports and across the chassis backplane rather than repeating traffic as a hub module would.

Port connectivity is provided through interchangeable interface modules rather than being fixed on the card, which is the arrangement Cabletron used throughout this generation so that media could be chosen or changed after purchase. The card takes power and backplane access from the chassis. We confirm the exact port and slot configuration on the unit before despatch.
