SNMP management module for Vertical Horizon stackable Ethernet switches.

The Cabletron VH-SMGMT is the management module for the Vertical Horizon range of stackable Ethernet switches. The Vertical Horizon switches were sold as unmanaged or lightly managed units in their base form, and this module is what adds full SNMP management, a web interface and a console port to a stack, so that VLANs, port settings and statistics can be handled centrally rather than switch by switch.

One module manages the stack it is fitted to rather than each switch needing its own. A later VH-SMGMT2 revision exists and the two are not always interchangeable across stack generations, so it is worth matching the module to the switch model in hand. Cabletron Systems renamed its enterprise networking arm Enterasys in 2001, and Extreme Networks acquired Enterasys in 2013. Tech-Star is UK based and ships worldwide.
