Cabletron 9C614 MMAC-Plus / SmartSwitch Router (SSR) networking Switch / Carrier Ethernet Line Card

The Cabletron 9C614 is an INB termination module for the MMAC-Plus chassis. The MMAC-Plus backplane carries an internal network bus between slots, and like any bus it has to be terminated correctly at each end; this module provides that termination so the bus presents the right impedance and signalling stays clean across a populated shelf.

It is a small housekeeping part rather than a traffic carrying card, but a chassis missing one can show intermittent faults that look like a failing line card, which is why they are worth holding as spares. The module is specific to the MMAC-Plus and does not fit the earlier MMAC chassis. Ownership ran from Cabletron Systems to Enterasys in 2001 and then to Extreme Networks, which bought Enterasys in 2013. Tech-Star holds this line in the UK and ships internationally.
