The Cabletron EPIM100-2F2 is a two port Fast Ethernet fibre interface module from the EPIM family, providing 100BASE-FX connections on a host card or chassis that accepts EPIMs. The EPIM system is what let Cabletron sell one switch or hub module and leave the media choice to the customer: the same host slot takes twisted pair, AUI, coaxial or fibre modules, and swapping the EPIM changes the port type without replacing the card behind it.

Two fibre ports on one module suited uplinks and building to building runs where copper distance limits would not reach. Fibre EPIMs are specific to the Fast Ethernet generation and are not interchangeable with the 10 Mbit/s modules that share the family name. This family began at Cabletron Systems, moved to Enterasys in 2001 and became part of Extreme Networks in 2013. Tech-Star supplies from UK stock with worldwide despatch.
