Enterasys 7GR4280-19 Matrix/S-Series/X-Series networking Switch / Carrier Ethernet Line Card

The Enterasys 7GR4280-19 is a Diamond series Distributed Forwarding Engine module providing eighteen 1000Base-X ports via mini-GBIC sockets plus one Network Expansion Module slot. The mini-GBIC sockets take SFP transceivers chosen per port, so each of the eighteen Gigabit ports can be set to short-reach multimode, long-reach single-mode or copper according to what that particular link needs, rather than the module fixing the media at purchase. The Network Expansion Module slot adds a further uplink or a specialised interface on top of those eighteen ports. As a Distributed Forwarding Engine the module carries its own forwarding and policy hardware, so Layer 2 switching, Layer 3 routing and classification happen on the blade and total chassis capacity grows with each module fitted. It installs in Matrix E7 and N-series chassis. Support for this range moved to Extreme Networks when it acquired Enterasys in 2013.
