The Cabletron EMME is an Ethernet Management Module for the MMAC modular hub, built around an i960 processor and combining management, bridging and routing on one card. It gives an MMAC chassis its SNMP agent and console access, and it bridges or routes between the internal backplane channels so a single hub can be split into separate Ethernet segments rather than one shared collision domain.

Four ports are provided on the card itself, and firmware is held in flash so the module can be upgraded in place rather than by changing chips. The EMME is the earlier module in this group and the EMM-E6 the later, more capable card; the two are not interchangeable in feature terms. Cabletron Systems renamed its enterprise arm Enterasys in 2001, and Extreme Networks acquired Enterasys in 2013. Tech-Star is UK based and ships worldwide.
