Alvarion

Alvarion was formed in August 2001 when two Israeli wireless companies, BreezeCOM and Floware Wireless Systems, merged, and it became one of the larger names in broadband wireless access. Its equipment provided the last-mile link where cable or fibre was impractical, connecting subscribers to an operator network over the air from a base station to a customer-premises unit, and the company was among the leading suppliers of WiMAX equipment during that technology’s peak. It also supplied private wireless networks for utilities, transport and public safety. The business was wound up in 2013 and the brand assets were sold on. Tech-Star supplies new and refurbished Alvarion hardware including base station and subscriber terminal units. Refurbished Alvarion hardware remains in demand because a wireless link works only between matched equipment, so a failed unit has to be replaced with its own kind.
