Transition Networks

Transition Networks, of Minnetonka, Minnesota, built its name on media converters, the small units that join two pieces of network running over different media, most often copper to fibre where a link has to cross a distance that twisted pair cannot manage. Alongside the converters it produced network interface devices, Power over Ethernet switches and managed conversion chassis for carrier and enterprise use. The company was part of Communications Systems for many years and was bought by Lantronix in August 2021. Tech-Star supplies new and refurbished Transition Networks hardware including multimode Ethernet media converter modules. Refurbished Transition Networks hardware remains in demand because a converter is normally matched to the chassis and the fibre already installed, so replacing like with like is far simpler than redesigning the link.
