Vertex RSI traces back to Vertex Communications Corporation, formed in Kilgore, Texas in 1984 when a group of employees bought the Harris Corporation antenna operation there. Vertex designed, built and installed precision satellite earth station antennas. TriPoint Global Communications acquired Vertex in November 1999 and merged it with Radiation Systems Inc to form VertexRSI, which also supplied the electronics behind the antenna, including frequency converters. General Dynamics bought TriPoint Global in 2004, and the business traded as General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies until Communications & Power Industries acquired it in June 2020. Tech-Star supplies new and refurbished Vertex RSI hardware including LT-3000 series up/down converters that translate between a 70 MHz IF and L-band. Refurbished Vertex RSI converters remain in demand as direct replacements in earth station racks that were built around them.
