SMC

SMC Networks traces back to Standard Microsystems Corporation, founded in 1980, which built network adapters and later switches and wireless equipment aimed at small and medium businesses. Accton Technology acquired SMC Networks in 1997 and ran it as a branded subsidiary alongside Edgecore, so SMC-badged hardware from that period is Accton-built. The TigerSwitch line was its managed Ethernet switch range, deployed in large numbers in offices and small data rooms. Tech-Star supplies new and refurbished SMC hardware including TigerSwitch Layer 3 Gigabit switches with SFP ports. Refurbished SMC hardware remains in demand because these switches shipped in volume, are long out of production, and a matching unit is usually simpler than re-cabling around a replacement from another vendor.
