Extron was founded in 1983 and builds professional audio visual signal handling equipment: switchers, distribution amplifiers, scalers, matrix routers and control systems for boardrooms, lecture theatres, control rooms and broadcast facilities. Its distribution amplifiers and switchers are designed for permanent installation, with wide bandwidth and rack mounting rather than desktop convenience, which is why so many remain in service long after the displays they were specified for have been replaced.
