Blue Coat Systems was an American network security company best known for its ProxySG secure web gateways, which sit between users and the internet to cache, filter and inspect web traffic. Blue Coat bought Packeteer and its PacketShaper range in 2008 and Crossbeam Systems in 2012, and Symantec acquired Blue Coat itself in 2016. Hardware from before then is badged Blue Coat and is listed here under the name on the label.
