RAD Data Communications was founded in Tel Aviv in 1981 by Yehuda and Zohar Zisapel and built its reputation on access and network edge equipment, particularly devices that carry legacy circuits across modern packet networks. Its TDMoIP gateways, sold as the IPmux family, transparently extend E1 and T1 circuits over IP or Ethernet, which lets operators retire TDM backhaul without replacing the equipment at either end of the circuit. RAD also produced fibre optic modems and network termination units for E1, T1 and synchronous data services.
